Supply and install as indicated on plans one (1) fire pump system consisting of:

  1. PUMP
  2. One Armstrong, SERIES 4600F, Size _____________ double suction horizontal split case fire pump listed by Underwriters Laboratories of Canada (ULC), Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) and approved by Factory Mutual (FM) having a capacity of _______________ USGPM for a pressure boost of __________ PSIG. Suction pressure __________ PSIG.

Pump casing shall be cast iron, axially split with a 15 degree angle that will minimize NPSH requirements and dimensions. Lower half shall contain suction and discharge nozzles. Suction and discharge connections shall be on the same elevation. Top half and rotating element shall be removable without disturbing the piping. Casing shall be fitted with replaceable bronze wearing rings. Impeller shall be bronze, double suction, enclosed type fully balanced and keyed to an alloy steel shaft. Shaft shall be fitted with replaceable bronze sleeves. Shaft shall be mounted in two dust tight deep grooves, sealed, and permanently greased ball bearings. Bearings shall be mounted in a cartridge type housing so that they shall be replaceable without opening pump casing. Bearings shall be removable without the need of special tools or bearing puller only by rotating the bearing removal nut.

Each stuffing box shall be fitted with a three piece bronze split gland. Stuffing box shall be fitted with an extension to facilitate the packing rings removal. Packing rings shall be removable without disturbing wetted parts or the pump bearings. Water seal rings made from non-corroding material shall be piped to pump volute.

  1. DIESEL ENGINE
  2. The pump shall be direct connected through flexible coupling to a diesel engine, manufactured by_______________, model _______________ ULC, UL and FM listed and approved with a net continuous rating of _______ HP at _________ RPM at ________ft of elevation above sea level. The diesel engine shall conform to the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association, Pamphlet #20 and shall be specifically approved for fire pump service. It shall operate at a rated speed not exceeding the above RPM and shall develop sufficient horsepower to drive the pump with reserve power.

    • Cooling Water System
    • The cooling water supply for the heat exchanger shall be from the discharge of the pump, taken off prior to the pump discharge valve. The pipe connection shall include four (4) manual shut-off valves (including by-pass line), two strainers, two pressure regulators, a listed automatic solenoid valve and a pressure gauge, piping and fittings all fitted to engine, per NFPA20, by the pump manufacturer.

    • Storage Batteries
    • One set of dual heavy duty lead acid batteries shall be provided and furnished in a dry charge condition with electrolyte liquid in separate containers. Suitable battery rack and 60" of battery cables shall be included.

  1. Fuel System
  2. The fuel system shall be Underwriters' type and shall consist of an above ground storage tank of _________gallons as recommended per NFPA20, fill pipe and cap, manual shut-off cock, flame arrestor, oil level gauge and braided bronze flexible connectors. The tank shall be supplied with legs for floor mounting. Approved seamless copper tubing and miscellaneous pipe and fittings shall be supplied by the mechanical contractor.

  1. MINIMUM FITTINGS
  2. The pump shall be supplied with the following accessories:

    • One (1) combination suction gauge 3-1/2" dial type with 1/4" cock and lever handle.
    • One (1) discharge gauge, 3-1/2" dial type, with 1/4" cock and lever handle.
    • One (1) air release valve.
  1. OTHER ACCESSORIES
  2. Pump shall be fitted with one (1) eccentric suction reducer and one (1) concentric discharge increaser (by mechanical contractor) to fit NFPA20 recommended piping sizes. One (1) outside test header shall be supplied with one (1) set of 2 1/2" hose valves with caps and chains to suit the rated pump flow. One (1) main relief valve and one(1) waste cone shall be supplied.

  1. AUTOMATIC DIESEL ENGINE CONTROLLER
  2. The Fire Pump Controller shall be manufactured by ____________ Model ____________ built strictly in accordance with the latest requirements of the NFPA. Controller shall be listed and labeled by Underwriters Laboratories of Canada (ULC) by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and/or approved by Factory Mutual (FM).

  1. JOCKEY PUMP
  2. The jockey pump shall be Model No. ______________ fo a capacity of ___________ USGPM and a pressure boost of ____________ PSIG. The jockey pump shall be driven by an open drip proof electric motor of_______HP ________ RPM ________ VOLT ______ PHASE________ CYCLE.

  1. JOCKEY PUMP CONTROLLER
  2. The jockey pump shall be controlled by an automatic jockey pump controller model ____________ with full voltage starter.

  1. MOUNTING AND TESTING
  2. Fire pump will be hydrostatically tested to a pressure recommended by UL, ULC or FM. The fire pump shall be subjected to a performance test at rated speed. The pump shall furnish not less than 150% of rated capacity at a pressure not less than 65% of rated head. The shut-off head shall not exceed 140% of rated head. A certified test.
